Arjun Baba
Arjun Baba is known mainly as the leader of Arjun and Guardians; a band that has over 10 CDs of material and have toured extensively in the US,Canada, and Europe. The group's influences range from reggae-kirtan to indie and ethno-electronica.
They have developed a strong following around the world with their eclectic sounds and Arjun's familiar voice and poetic lyrics.
History
Arjun Baba , known in the 80's and 90's as Chuck Spinner, singer guitarist for NYC 90's indie rock band APE, and 80's bands CutThroat and Dead Centre where he performed and recorded professionally in his early teens all over the NY area.
Come 1998 many life changes spawned a new persona and a new life. The first Guardians recordings were in 1998 in Seattle, some of these songs can be found on the CD Pre-Millenium mentions.
By 2000 several underground CD's had sparked a small following, and the first professional release to hit stores was unveiled- 2001's "Cave of Brahma" , which remains as a fan favorite with songs such as "Bore the Righteous", "Moon Chant" and "Caravan Law".
As the decade continued Arjun put out several more Guardians double CD's and worked in two other MusicAL projects Bhajan Anandi Kirtan, and Qawwali group Fanna Fi Allah, who have been traveling to Pakistan to perform and study with the great Qawwali masters in the lineage of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and others.
2009 spawned 4 new CD's from Arjun, "Hotel Arjun" - a classy collection of inspired rootsy but still eclectic tunes, @ new kirtan cd's "Bhajan Ananadi Kirtan Vol 5" and "Vol 6", as well as Fanna Fi Allah's "mehfil-e-sama vol 1"
