Apple Chiu
Apple Chiu is a Filipino singer and she is a "Sultry Siren".
Early Life
She was born in 1984. Singer Apple Chiu denied rumors that she slept in the house of ex-boyfriend and fellow “Philippine Idol” contestant Miguel Mendoza.
“I did go there once but I was with my best friend. He invited us over to check out a song he was working on. We went home after,” Apple said in Filipino at Romulo Café where the launch of her self-titled album under PolyEast Records was held last Sept. 16.
Apple said she and Miguel decided to end their relationship because they lost touch after “Philippine Idol.” Miguel became busy with his studies and later, with his stint as a scholar in “Pinoy Dream Academy.”
“Besides, we realized that we were better off as friends.”
She also refuted talks that they broke up because Miguel’s parents did not like her for him. “No, that’s not true... I’m actually close to his family,” said the 25-year-old Sultry Siren.
Apple sang a duet with Miguel on one of the tracks in his album which was released August.
In turn, Miguel wrote two songs in “Apple Chiu” titled “Paano Bang Umibig” and “Ikaw Ang Kailangan” (co-written with Patty Mayoralgo).
With her powerful pipes and sultry singing style, Apple delivers a fresh take on some of the most-loved OPM classics in her album. Some of these are “Hindi Magbabago” (originally by Randy Santiago), “Paano Ba Ang Mangarap?” (Basil Valdez) and her carrier single, “Sa Kanya” (Ogie Alcasid).
“Apple Chiu” is set for release Sept. 18.
The singer’s music portfolio dates back to when she was still in third grade.
Later, Apple figured in various singing contests before becoming a regular member of (ABS-CBN show) “The Singing Bee” group, The Songbees.
