Apollon Halandriou F.C.
Apollon Halandriou is a football club that was founded and based at K. Halandri, Athens in 1966. The first team is currently competing at the Second Division of the amateur football league of Athens, EPSA.
Facilities – Football Pitch
The football pitch of Apollon Halandriou F.C. is located just behind the area of Nomismatokopeio, at Kato Chalandri (Sarantaporou and Lefkosias street). It is also 500m from the metro station of ‘Nomismatikopeio’.
It has a last generation artificial turf pitch, a comfortable and spacy parking area, it is also equipped with stadium lights and has 3 stadium seating with capacity of 300 people. Furthermore, the facilities contain a fully equipped canteen area (heated in the winter months), with a view to the football pitch.
The official dimensions of the playing field are 96m x 59m.
Football Academy
The football club, has also its own football academy that trains and educates nearly more than 400 young athletes. The football academy of Apollon Halandriou has a rising reputation amongst other football academies of Athens the last 5 years, even though it is an amateur football club. The teams of the academy compete in many different leagues with many distinctions.
Philosophy of the Academy
As a “football school” our priorities are:
- To educate our athletes regardless of their age and abilities in a safe and friendly environment.
- To provide a training program orientated to each age group that it will aim in the long-term development of the child.
- To encourage children to try as much as possible to improve their skills.
- To offer a competitive and also supportive environment where young athletes can learn from their mistake without excessive pressure and stress of professionalism.
- And finally to promote the principles of “Fair Play” and the principles against any kind of racism and discrimination.
Based on the above positions of the philosophy, the academy has achieved in the last years:
- To have almost over 400 young athletes registered within their teams.
- To have a leading role in all domestic tournaments, international awards and distinctions, but most important participation of all the children in playing activity regardless their skills.
- To contribute their athletes to have very high rates of success to study at higher educational levels at Universities and Technological Institutes.
- To promote athletes from the academies, to consist the first team roster at a percentage of 90%.
