Antik Mahmud
Antik Mahmud (born as Mahathir Mahmud Antik) is a Bangladeshi animator, cartoonist, writer and YouTube content creator. He is known for animated storytelling videos, comics and animation studio-based projects. He is the founder of Antik Animated Studio. Prothom Alo has described him as one of the figures associated with the development of Bangladesh's YouTube animation scene.
Early life and education
Mahmud was born in Barisal, Bangladesh. He spent part of his childhood in Nagasaki, Japan, and returned to Bangladesh at around the age of 10. According to The Daily Ittefaq, he began drawing while studying in the ninth grade, although he had been interested in comics since childhood. In January 2017, he began studying information and communication technology at the Bangladesh University of Professionals.
Career
Mahmud's experience with video production began during his university years, when he made birthday videos for his friends. He later began publishing animated and cartoon-style videos on his YouTube channel. According to The Business Standard, he started his career as a YouTuber in late 2017.
Around 2018, he joined 10 Minute School as a creative executive. In an interview with The Daily Star, Mahmud said that he began making animated clips by combining his video-editing skills with cartoon drawing. He later created an animation course for beginners in collaboration with 10 Minute School.
He later founded Antik Animated Studio. According to The Business Standard, the studio works on music videos, client projects and other animation-based productions. The animated music video for Shunno's song Behula is among the studio's noted works. In 2021, The Daily Star reported that the Behula music video was animated by Mahmud and that it ranked number one in YouTube's music segment after its release.
In 2023, Mahmud created the animated video for Coke Studio Bangla's song Murir Tin. In 2024 and 2025, The Daily Star reported on his collaborative work with Abul Hayat and Dilara Zaman.
Writing
Mahmud has also written books and comics. According to The Daily Star, he worked with Ayman Sadiq on the book Bhallagena, which was published in 2019. His thriller book Chol was published by Oddhoyon Prokashoni in 2020; it was later adapted into an interactive telefictions production by Bongo BD. His other published works include Tin, the Noman series and Parahin.
