Anthony Santelli
Anthony Peter Santelli, B.A. H.B.A., B.Ed. (born July 26, 1974 in Thunder Bay, Ontario) is an Italian-Canadian magazine editor, journalist, and teacher.
Background
Born to Italian immigrant parents, Santelli was raised by his stay-at-home mother and his father, who currently works for a major forestry logging company.
Santelli attended Saint Bernard Catholic Elementary School, Bishop E.Q. Jennings Junior High School, and St. Ignatius Catholic High School, in Thunder Bay. He graduated from Lakehead University with both a bachelors and honours degree majoring in political science with minors in history and law. After a two year break, he also graduated from the University of Windsor with a degree in education.
Career
After graduating, he worked as an elementary school teacher at the York Region District School Board. He later became the founder and editor-in-chief of the Canadian online news magazine Sir John Magazine and the creator of its parent company, Premiere Media Group, Inc. His interest in politics and extensive experience in working with political figures at the federal and provincial levels prompted him to start up the magazine. He plans on bringing the magazine into print form in 2008 and hopes to expand Premiere Media Group, Inc. into film and other forms of media. He is also interested in returning to school and obtaining an MBA and law degree.
Personal Life
In October 2001 while completing his degree in education at the University of Windsor, he was diagnosed with early stages of Hodgkin's lymphoma. He was strong enough to complete his studies and then took a year off to undertake radiation treatment. He returned to teaching in November of 2003.
Santelli currently splits his time between living in Thunder Bay and Toronto, Ontario.
