Anthony De Rosa

Anthony De Rosa is an American-born social media expert and author. De Rosa is currently the Social Media editor for Reuters, owner of popular tumblog SoupSoup And Co-founder of hyper-local blogging tool Neighborhoodr.

The New York Times called De Rosa the “undisputed King of Tumblr” in October 2011.

Reuters

De Rosa currently works as the Social Media Editor for Reuters. In this role he ensures that breaking online news is integrated into new-media and traditional Reuters platforms. He also assists with training programs for new Reuters journalists.

Prior to this role, De Rosa was the Reuters API Product Manager.

SoupSoup

SoupSoup is a curated tumblog that covers a wide range of topics; from pop culture memes to the latest on Libya and Côte d'Ivoire. According to data compiled from Compete, SoupSoup is in the top 25 of over 23 million tumblogs. David Karp, the founder of Tumblr, declared that De Rosa’s blog was one of his favorite blogs during an interview on CNN.

After a series of technical difficulties in July 2011, De Rosa posted that “Tumblr has become terribly unstable” and that he would be taking a break until the organization “gets their [...] together”. Following this he returned later that month but indicated he would be posting less. It was mis-reported that De Rosa had quit the service, but he clarified this claim in a response to a Business Insider article.

Both NBC New York and ABC World News awarded De Rosa’s Twitter account a place in their top “20 people to follow” lists.

De Rosa has over 47,000 Twitter followers and is featured on over 1,180 curated lists.
