The band's lineup consisted of Nathan Cody (Kessey) on vocals/guitar, John Marshall on bass, Casey Fowler on drums, and Brian Holzgang on guitar for most of the band's existence. It formed in 2003 and disbanded in 2007. The band released several demos and radio singles, but no full length studio album.

Biography

Early Years / "Southpaw" / Local Commercial Breakthrough

Fowler, Kessey and Marshall formed Another Single Day (originally naming the band "Southpaw"), in the summer of 2003 in Sacramento, CA. They recorded a few singles before drawing attention from Marco Collins at KWOD 106.5 in Sacramento. Collins put the acoustic single "Wait" on the airwaves, followed by the heavier track, "Perfect."

Changing the name to Another Single Day, The three then recorded a self-titled, 5-song EP in 2004, under independent label Quasitone Records, with record producer Brian Poole at Sketchpad Recording Studios in Sacramento. Poole would work with the band throughout their career. The re-recorded "Perfect," and the single "Rearranged" made their way onto both KWOD 106.5 FM, and KRXQ 98.5 98 Rock in Sacramento.

Guitarist Chris Allen joined the band in 2003, as the group played extensively throughout the Sacramento area, supporting the EP. Allen left the band in 2004.

Adopting the new name, and once again a three-piece, the band recorded a new EP, featuring the tracks "Blind," "Overground," and "Days of Fire." With the addition of guitarist Brian Holzgang in 2005, the band began touring throughout Northern California, opening for such acts as Taylor Hawkins and Frank Hannon.

The band's single, "Blind" was featured, then put into rotation on KWOD in late 2005, while another, "Overground," was chosen by Mark Gilmore for inclusion on KRXQ 98 Rock's "Sacramento Rocks Volume 12" compilation CD, which featured 22 local bands; a nonprofit compilation, to benefit the Mustard Seed School for Homeless Children

In 2006, again with producer Brian Poole, and with Holzgang on guitar, the band made their fourth and final collective recording, "The Sound of Secrets," featuring the aforementioned title track, as well as "Far Too Gone," "Home," "Suffocate, and "Burn."

The group also recorded the instrumental music for a single called "Predictable," as well as a cover of Simple Minds' "Don't you forget AbOUT me," which was never released.

The title track, "The Sound of Secrets," was put into regular rotation on KWOD 106.5, in the summer of 2006.

The Final Years

In October 2006, the band won the "Stammy" award for "Northern California's best Hard Rock Band," and were featured in the Stockton newspaper, "The Record." The award was based in Stockton, CA, but included acts from all of Northern California.

The group continued to tour throughout Northern California through the summer of 2007, showcasing at events such as the "Your Music Magazine" Battle of the Bands, at Caesar Chavez Park in Sacramento.

The band broke up in 2007; along with drummer Fowler's departure, citing lack of commercial success on a national level.
