Annette Green

Annette Green is a British literary agent who established her own business, Annette Green Authors' Agency, in 1998. Having previously worked for the agency A M Heath, she had learned every aspect of agenting, and set AbOUT building her client list. Her early successes included the novelists Bill Broady, Maria McCann and Justin Hill as well as the American children's author Meg Cabot.

By 2001 her one-woman business had become more than she could manage on her own, so her future husband David Smith, then training as a lawyer, gave up his city job and joined the agency.

Personal life

Annette Green was born in Sittingbourne, Kent, UK. She attended the local state school, followed by sixth form college, and went on to take a degree in Humanities at Middlesex Polytechnic, North London (now Middlesex University). Her first job was as a library assistant at the Architectural Press before she began her career in agenting at A M Heath.
