Anjay Rastogi
Anjay Rastogi is an Indian born American nephrologist and pharmacologist known for his work in kidney health, clinical research, and public health initiatives.
He has been associated with the University of California, Los Angeles since 1994.
Early life and education
Anjay Rastogi was born on February 6, 1969 in Jaipur, India. His father was also a doctor. Rastogi, who grew up in Jaipur, India, was raised by his grandmother and attended St. Xavier’s Catholic School.
Once he pursued higher education in India, Rastogi had the opportunity to work under Nobel laureate Louis José Ignarro.
He obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from the University of Rajasthan in Jaipur, India, and subsequently earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from SMS Medical College.
Rastogi earned a doctorate (PhD) in Pharmacology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, specializing in the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology. He then finished his education doing his internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at UCLA.
Academic and clinical leadership
In 2016, Rastogi founded the UCLA CORE Kidney Health Program, which focuses on advancing kidney health awareness and treatment strategies through integrated care and educating patients to become active advocates for their own health. He still remains as the director to this day.
He has served as a Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA since 2016 along with other various leadership roles:

- Director of ADPKD, Fabry, and Alport Programs at UCLA
- Director of Hypertension Program at UCLA
- Director of Diabetic Kidney Disease Program at UCLA
- Director of Diet & Nutrition and Kidney Disease Programs at UCLA
- Director of ESRD / Dialysis Program at UCLA
- Director of Living Donor Program at UCLA
- Director of Nephro-Genetics Program at UCLA
- Clinical Chief of UCLA Nephrology, UCLA Health System
- Medical Director of DaVita Century City and Brentwood Dialysis Units
He also leads national studies, including the 2022–present Vertex Study and the 2020–present ALIGN Study for the CHINOOK study.

Research
Rastogi has been an active contributor to the field of nephrology, consistently publishing research findings that advance understanding of kidney diseases.
Personal initiative
In 2015, Rastogi founded the Bruin Beans Health Club, an undergraduate student organization at UCLA. The club operates in conjunction with the UCLA CORE Kidney Health Program to support community outreach and patient education events focused on kidney health awareness.
