Angela Via (2000 album)
Angela Via is the first EDition of the self-titled debut album by Angela Vía. First scheduled for release on June 6, 2000, the album was not available for purchase until 2004.
Album information
Angela Via features the Billboard hits, "Picture Perfect" and "I Don't Care", and includes material both recorded before and after Vía signed her seven-album deal with Lava/Atlantic Records.
Although the album never hit stores, several of its tracks can be found on other commercial releases. In 1999, "Catch Me If You Can" hit stores on the Pokémon: The First Movie soundtrack. In 2000, the two singles from the album, "Picture Perfect" and "I Don't Care", hit stores in both CD and cassette tape form. Also, in 2000, "Best Friends" hit stores on The Little Vampire movie soundtrack. In 2001, "Wish We Could Be Free" appeared as "Christmas Wish" on the TRL Christmas CD. In 2003, "Kissing You" could be heard in the Boat Trip movie, but the soundtrack to the film never hit stores.
In 2004, Atlantic Records released the album through RealPlayer's music store, where it was available for download for a limited time. "Catch Me If You Can" can still be purchased via any digital music service, including iTunes.
Miscellanea
"Picture Perfect" first appeared on Angela's demo CD to Atlantic Records. Written about a high school crush, Angela found the chorus in poem form in her drawer and co-wrote the rest of the song with the songwriting duo Berny Cosgrove and Kevin Clark. On her Fox Kids TV special, On The Rise, Angela told her ex-crush that she wrote "Picture Perfect" about him.
Angela wrote "Stay Together" with Grammy Award-winner and singer-songwriter Carole King.
"Retrato Perfecto" is the Spanish version of "Picture Perfect".
