Andy Hsu

Andy Hsu is an Australian neuroscientist, educator, and neurotechnology entrepreneur. His work involves the development of artificial intelligence–based brain-mapping and neuro-assessment systems for clinical and educational applications.

Hsu is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), the Royal Society of Biology (RSB), and the Academy of Medical Educators (AoME). He has served as a Fellowship Councillor for Asia and Oceania at the RSA and has contributed to academic assessment and professional review activities with organisations including the RSB and AoME.

Career and research

Hsu's work has focused on the application of neurophysiology and digital health technologies to clinical practice and professional education. He has been involved in the development of systems that analyse physiological and behavioural signals, including eye movements, postural control, and cognitive performance, for use in neurological assessment and rehabilitation contexts.

According to The Biologist, technologies developed by organisations associated with Hsu have been implemented in clinical and educational settings, with training programmes delivered to healthcare professionals across Asia-Pacific.

Pain research

Hsu has also enriched to professional education in pain neuroscience, with a focus on the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying chronic pain. His teaching includes discussion of peripheral nerve function, including C-fibre pathways, and their role in pain perception and modulation.

He has been involved in the development and delivery of educational programmes on pain neuroscience in Asia, including courses in Singapore and Malaysia.

Education

Hsu completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Monash University Australia and undertook clinical training in chiropractic at RMIT University in Australia. He later obtained a Master of Medicine from the University of Sydney.

He has also pursued further studies in data analytics and artificial intelligence to support his work in digital health.

Teaching and public engagement

Hsu teaches neuroscience and neurotechnology in university and professional education settings and has delivered workshops and public lectures on applied brain science and digital neuro-assessment.

He has held academic appointments including an honorary professorship at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, as well as visiting roles at Lanzhou University and Sichuan University.

In 2024 and 2025,He has also contributed to professional training programmes in collaboration with institutions such as the National Sports Institute of Malaysia and the International Medical University of Malaysia.
