He is a known advocate of the KDE Environment on Linux and BSD, and has been quoted by Thom Holwerda of OS News on numberous occasions in relation to his views on GNOME In-flexibility.
He created a theoretical Ports-PBI system which would allow FreeBSD Ports and PBI's to work together utilising both system back ends, in a way that meant you wouldnt duplicate application installs, and it was proven to work 90%+ of the time with the rare package corrupting the ports tree.
He is also responsible for the Micro Sequence Performance Architecture [[MSPA]], and founded Denux under whom .DNX and Denux MenuetOS were created.
.DNX 1.0e was released in January 2005 and was presented to the Tim-Bernes Lee by Andrew Youll in February and has been subsequently shown to KHTML developers and Gecko Developers, it's primary purpose is to replace HTML as a webstandard through the utilisation of client-side rendering and processing of developer definable tags. Within .DNX nodes and models are the most notable features, nodes are flat file storage components that cna be utilised by the developer to render expressions in a user readable format. Models are constructs to help filter information so that only the necessary is visible for example:
<model_id="linux">Linux............
Any device / browser supporting .DNX 1.0e could then be set up to either display or ignore anything with a model relating to linux.
As of December 2007, Andrew Youll started up a new technology news site , orientated around Apple Mac hardware called MacOS User.
