André Seleanu
André Seleanu (born 1957) is a Canadian art critic, journalist, author, and curator based in Montreal, Quebec. His writing has focused primarily on contemporary art in Quebec, Canada, and internationally, with particular attention to contemporary artistic theory and criticism.
Biography
Born in Romania, Seleanu later immigrated to Canada. He studied science and engineering at McGill University, graduating in 1984, and subsequently pursued journalism studies at Concordia University in Montreal.
Seleanu has written on developments in Canadian and international contemporary art and has contributed to publications including Vie des Arts, Canadian Art, Espace, and Esse arts + opinions.
In 2013, he served as curator of a retrospective exhibition of the Quebec artist Toussaint Riendeau at the Bibliothèque municipale de Sainte-Julie. Seleanu also organized the group exhibition ''Regard et passion'', which presented the work of Montreal artists of Latin American origin.
Seleanu is the author of books on contemporary art theory and aesthetics, including Comprendre l'art contemporain : art tactile, art sémiotique (2021) and Le conflit de l'art contemporain : art tactile, art sémiotique (2021).
