Amlan National High School

Amlan National High School

History

Amlan Municipal High School was established on the opening of the school year 1972-1973 through the efforts of the late Honorable Mayor David Trasmonte and then District Supervisor, Mr. Jose Galvez. This was initiated in response to the townpeople’s request for a high school in the municipality since students who aspired for secondary education would have go to Tanjay and Dumaguete city.

The school was led by Mrs. Maria Theresa S. Villanueva from 1972 until 1974 and classes were held in the Amlan Central Elementary School for a few years because there was still no lot for the high school.

The following is the roll of TIC and their corresponding years of service: Mr. Francisco Ortega for SY 1975-1976; Mrs. Celedoña Zoza Notarte for SY 1976 through1981 and she later became school principal in July 1981. Mr. Julian Tornandizo and Mrs. Fidelita Sienes also served as school principal in the following school years. Miss Rosela Rodriguez Abiera, a young, dynamic and workaholic principal, was assigned in ANHS in January 2003 up to the present.
