American Music Institute NPO
American Music Institute, NPO is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in the Chicago suburbs of Hinsdale, Illinois and St. Charles, Illinois. American Music Institute's mission is to provide a high level of music education to all student's in all INSTRUMENTS, levels, ages, and styles of music. AMI's principle objective is to preserve the cultural art of music education and music performance for the future generations of the American society.
Background
American Music Institute was founded in 2006 by a panel of musicians and music educators in order to advocate music education. The panel was headed by violinist Remus Badea (CEO) and violinist Autumn Voakes (CFO), who are currently the acting Executive Directors of the organization. Board members include Anne Maciejewski, U.S. Army Captain Sarah Slattery, Remus Badea, Autumn Voakes, Eric Boffeli, Meredyth Poulson, and Robert Simmonds. The organizations central offices are located in Hinsdale, Illinois.
Programs
AMI hosts a number of music and academic programs including a general private lesson program, group class program, early childhood education program, music and developmental therapy program (AMI Therapy), an advanced level private lesson program (AMI Conservatory Program), and a professional performance program (All Events Music Program).
Outreach Programs
AMI hosts two outreach programs in order to serve all sector of the Chicago-land community: The Music for Life Outreach Program, and The Gift of Music Program. The Music for Life Program provides low and no-cost music education programs for public schools and public libraries, focusing specifically in low-income communities. The Gift of Music Program provides no-cost student and professional music performances for under served sectors of the community including senior centers, public schools, children hospitals and homes for the developmentally delayed.
Other Activities
Throughout the school year, AMI hosts a variety of additional events including the AMI Solo Competition, the AMI Summer Music Camp, and a variety of student and faculty recitals and concerts. The 2010 Piano and Violin Competition is being hosted at Steinway of Chicago, with the judging panel including celebrated violinist Stefan Milenkovich.
