Amadan
Stout Irish Music is an appropriate motto for Amadan. The band, originally based in Corvallis, Oregon (though now hailing from Portland, Oregon), plays both punk and world music. They are often categorized as a Celtic punk band due to their Irish influences. Even though none of them is actually Irish, they enjoy playing many songs about Irish battles and politics. They also start most of the songs with a medly of popular melodies such as "What Should We Do With the Druken Sailor", often at very fast tempo. Amadan is very popular in Corvallis and the surrounding areas, and is slowly reaching out to other parts of the country. Amadán is also a Gaelic and Hiberno-English term for a stupid man (óinseach being its feminine equivalent).
The band currently consists of the following:
- Eric Tonsfeldt (lead vocals, guitar)
- Chad Marks-Fife (fiddle)
