Alvin e miller

Alvin Miller is a Baptist pastor in Clarksville, Tennessee and a prominent evanglist.
Early and family life
Miller was born in Fort Pierce, Florida, the second oldest of ten children, to Elizabeth Miller. He was educated in St. Lucie County Public Schools.
Upon graduation from high school, Miller entered Eastern Kentucky University, receiving a football scholarship. In 1979, Miller was a member of Eastern Kentucky University first National Championship team in football (NCAA 1-AA). During the Semi-National Championship Game and the National Championship Game, ABC Television and Chevrolet Corporation selected Miller as the Most Valuable Player for each game.
In 1979, Miller joined the ROTC Program, and was selected as an Outstanding Young Man of America by the United States Jaycees, and in the same year, he was selected to the Order of Omega, a National Scholastic Honor Society.
Miller is married to the former Dominique Haywood, and the father of three sons and two daughters.
Career
On August 6, 1981, Miller received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. Upon graduation, Alvin was commissioned into the United States Army. Following his time in the Army, Miller returned home to Fort Pierce, where he coached football, basketball and soccer at his high school.
In August 1985, Miller accepted his “Call to the Gospel Ministry,” and enrolled as a fulltime Master of Divinity student at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary of Louisville, Kentucky. Also in 1985, Miller was selected by Department of the Army to serve as an Aide-de-Camp to Brigadier General Merwyn Lee Jackson of the 100th Division, Louisville, Kentucky (United States Army Reserve). In December 1988, he completed his Master of Divinity degree.
In 1989, Miller served as the Governor’s Drug-Free Communities Coordinator for Governor Bob Martinez of Florida. After nearly a year on the governor’s staff, Miller returned to active duty in the U.S. Army as a chaplain with the rank of Captain, at the United States Army Field Artillery Training Center in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. On July 26, 1994, he was honorably discharged from active duty in the U.S. Army, following which he returned to high school teaching in Fort Pierce.
On May 1, 1999, Miller received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Currently, Miller is the pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Clarksville, Tennessee and Staff Chaplain (Colonel) for the 4203d United States Army Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. He is Senior Pastor for Community Chapel Gospel Service at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Honors and distinctions
Miller has been a guest preacher on the Trinity Broadcast Network, the U.S. Army Chaplains Annual Sustainment Training Conference, and appears weekly on a local television broadcast (channel 10) in Clarksville.
In 2006, Miller was recognized on the Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel Music television show as one of Nashville’s top 25 pastors for his innovative community outreach and world evangelism ministry approach while he served as senior pastor of Pleasant Green Baptist Church of Nashville, TN. In April 2008, Miller was honored by Pat Robertson and the 700 Club Worldwide Television Broadcast for being selected as America’s Church of the Week for leading Pleasant Green Baptist Church with establishing and promoting innovative and uplifting evangelism and community outreach ministries and programs. Dr. Miller is a Life Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and Subscribing Life Member of the NAACP.
