Alfred Defilippis
Alfred "A.J." Defilippis (born May 28, 1990) is an American football quarterback for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League. He played college football for the Savannah State Tigers.
Defilippis has also been a member of the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League
High School
Defilippis attended high school at Benedictine in Savannah, Georgia. In Defilippis senior year he threw for 844 yards and 10 touchdown throwing no interceptions he would also rush for 1,016 yards and 14 touchdowns as the team's quarterback, as the team's punter he averaged 47 yards a punt and on the defensive side Defilippis would make 49 tackles and 4 interceptions as the team's safety. with his performance he would help lead his team to the 3-AAA state championship in which they defeated Josey High School 35-17. Defilippis also played basketball and baseball.
College
Defilippis sighed a scholarship to Savannah State University becoming only the third Caucasian quarterback in school history. As a true freshman Defilippis would complete 130/231 passes (56.2%) for 1,563 yards, 12 touchdowns and 4 interceptions as well as running the ball 133 times for 652 yards and 7 touchdowns helping the Tigers finish 9-2 in the regular season and advanced to the third round of the playoffs where they would lose to South DAKOTA State 27-35. In his sophomore year Defilippis would complete 144/258 passes (55.8) for 1,647 yards, 15 touchdowns and 4 interceptions as well as running the ball 140 times for 701 yards and 9 touchdowns. In 2010 the team's head coach Robert wells would leave the program unexpectedly making the team's defensive coordinator Julius Dixon the intern head coach for the 2010 season. despite the change on the team's coaching staff two weeks before the first game of the year Defilippis still finished with a rememberable junior year breaking 3 school records. head coach Dixon would sometimes move Defilippis to play wide receiver during the games making him more of an athletic player than just a quarterback. Defilippis finished his junior year leading the Tigers in both rushing and passing yards. He would complete 123/244 passes for 1,549 yards 10 touchdowns and 9 interceptions as well as running the ball 164 times for 778 yards and 8 touchdowns as a receiver he would catch a total of 12 passes for 143 yards. In his senior year under new head coach Steve Davenport and with a new offense Defilippis would complete 216/421 (51.3%) for 2,376 yards 18 touchdowns and 15 interceptions as well as running the ball 94 times for 411 yards and five touchdowns.
