Alexander Okunev

Alexander Orkonov, born in 1963 in Ukraine. Is a Ukrainian Israeli composer.

Biography

Orkonov began playing the violin at the age of 7. He studied music in Kiev, Ukraine for seven years and graduated with honors. Upon finishing his studies, Alex was accepted to the music academy of Kiev, where he majored in violin studies while simultaneously studying the piano and drums.

After graduating from the academy, Alex immediately joined a band, "Hot Night," that became one of the popular bands in the Ukraine. Alex quit the band at the age of 25 and began to compose songs for bands and MusicAL theater.

In 1994, Alex left the Ukraine and immigrated to Israel. Upon arrival, he was invited to participate in the Israeli New Rising Composure Competition, which he won, coming in first place. The competition opened many doors for Alex, and soon after he began working with well known directors in the music theatre industry, like Jacob Livshits. Alex composed music for his famous ballets.

Soon after, Alex met Danny Shoshan, a composer and vocalist. In 2003, Alex teamed up with Mr. Shoshan to compose things ranging from Maxim Ronkin, the original soundtrack for the movies, “Back to Sorrento” (a winner in the 2005 Israeli film festival) and “Shlomazl” (a black humored comedy). They also worked on music for the television series “The Sidove Family” and “Hello Loony Asylum.”

Alex met Roman Vinesteine and Itay Stineberg in 2006. Alex joined the group of talented musicians, and the three began making music for the motion picture industry. Alex joined Roman and Itay in the music production company, “The Box Music,” in 2008, where he took part in composing the original sound track for the animated series CelebZ (The Box production).
