Albert Lee Appliance

Albert Lee Appliance is a family-owned appliance retailer based in Seattle, Washington. Founded in 1939, it is the oldest appliance company in Washington State and the state's largest independent appliance dealer. The company operates six showrooms across the greater Puget Sound region and carries over 90 premium and luxury appliance brands.

History

In 1939, Albert Lee opened Albert Lee Furniture, a custom furniture store on Elliott Avenue in Seattle. After World War II, the business transitioned into Albert Lee Furniture and Appliances. Over subsequent decades the furniture side was phased out entirely, and the company focused exclusively on home appliances.

The company survived a fire at its Elliott Avenue location in 1966, continuing to operate thanks to its established customer base. A Greenwood location opened in May 1969, marking the beginning of broader expansion across the Puget Sound region. By its 80th anniversary in 2019, the company had grown from a single storefront to five stores and two distribution centers. It has since expanded to six retail locations and remains family-owned across three generations of the Lee family.

The business was founded by Albert Lee Sr., who moved to Seattle as a young man and later served in World War II, earning a Purple Heart.
