Alan Ball Memorial Cup
The Alan Ball Memorial Cup was a match played at Stadium MK and between England and the rest of the world on 29th July 2007. It aired live on Sky One. The final score was England 4 The World 2 . The teams were made up of football legends and celebrities. Earlier in the week stars from television soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale played each other. That match will be shown on Sky One at 8pm on Sunday 5th July. It is the first to be played at a 4-Star UEFA Stadium. Guests in the Sky One studio included Sir Geoff Hurst and Kit Symons. The Ball family arranged the match and Jimmy Ball played for the England Side. England were in white with the number 66 on the shorts (because Alan Ball was man of the match in the 1966 World Cup Final). The world played in gold and black (Like Hull City's Kit). Players included in the squads were Darren Campbell and Dennis Wise for England and Gustavo Poyet for the rest of the World. England lifted the trophy and the last goal scored was a England Penalty in which made it 4-2.
