Alabama Lightning
The Alabama Lightning is an amateur American football team in the North American Football League (NAFL). The Lightning franchise is located in Orange Beach, Alabama, southeast of Mobile, Alabama.
First season - 2004
In their first season they went undefeated and shared the division championship with the Central Alabama Renegades. The two teams were both undefeated until the fifth week of the season, when the Lightning went to Prattville and beat the Renegades by a score of 33 to 32 to secure first place in the Gulf Division. The last game of the season was interrupted by Hurricane Ivan, which came ashore in the neighboring beach city of Gulf Shores on the Gulf of Mexico. The interrupted game was to be against the Central Alabama Renegades. Since the Lightning won in their earlier matchup, the NAFL decided to give the Gulf Division title to the Lightning, who instead chose to share The Title.
The Lightning advanced to the playoffs and were subsequently defeated in the second playoff round.
Second season - 2005
In their second season, the Lightning were again undefeated. They advanced to the playoffs and were eliminated in the third round.
