Al-Sahawat Times

Al-Sahawat Times (لصَحَوة in Arabic; meaning The Awakening) is a daily print and digital broadsheet newspaper originating from Oman.

History

The newspaper was founded in 2007 in Oman by the Oman Media Group before expanding to UAE with investment from Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The newspaper closed for one day (29 January 2017) before being taken over by The International Press and Media Group the following day.

The InternationalPress and Media Group is a UK 250 listed corporation.

Al-Sahawat Times is printed in English, Arabic, Urdu, Swahili, Persian, Spanish and Bosnian.

The newspaper's website and online news portal were reset during the latest acquisition and merger.

In 2017 Al-Sahawat Times' owning Media Group, The International Press and Media Group underwent significant corporate restructuring when the former chief executive officer stepped down as CEO and president due to ill health only taking the role of CFO. By mid-2017 the CFO was unable to continue and an entire new board was introduced. The board members of Al-Sahawat Times now include Royalty and Nobility from Oman and the UAE.

Editorial style

The newspaper's editors tightly control the journalists' content ensuring that all content meets Al-Sahawat{{'}}s Code of Ethics which it displays in its papers and on its online news portals.

Stories cover a wide range of topics relevant to global interests as opposed to being regionally or culturally specific. The newspaper at times shows a lean towards positive stories titled "Good News", Liberal Left politics, Art, Finance, Literature and Islam.
