Akamon Entertainment
Akamon Entertainment is a developer and operator of online social games that offers social games through the Spanish portal Mundijuegos.com, the French platform Mundijeux.fr, the Brazilian Ludijogos.com, the Venezuelan Mundijuegos.com.ve, and the Argentinian Mundijuegos.com.ar as well as through Facebook and other media portals acting as partners.
History
Akamon was founded in July 2011 on the basis of Mundijuegos.com, a Spanish portal of traditional casino-based games with more than 6 milion users at that moment. Mundijuegos was founded in 2004 by Carlos Blanco, president and founder of Akamon along with some of the members of the board.
The company started its expansion across Latin America and the south of Europe in 2012. In January 2012 Akamon entered the Brazilian market with the local portal Ludijogos.com. Two months later, in March 2012, the company started operating in France through the local portal Mundijeux.fr. Also in February 2012 the company launched its first game on Facebook.
In April 2012, Akamon announced an agreement with the Argentinean portal Taringa! making Akamon the exclusive provider of online social games on Taringa!
In July 2012, Akamon winned top prize in "Who's Got Games" contest for best startup in online games, that allowed the company to participate in the "Games Dojo Accelerator", one of the most recognized accelerator of gaming companies in Silicon Valley. Just after this award, Akamon was positioned as number 14 in the top list of "Social Casino Movers and Shakers" by the Social Casino Intelligence Manazine, in its first issue in August 2012.
The rising of the company in its first complete Year obtained recognition in the EGR Operator Awards 2012, where Akamon won two awards: "Rising Star" and best "Social Bingo Product of the Year".
Funding
The company raised 1 million euros initially from its management team, which includes Carlos Blanco, president and Vicenç Martí, CEO. Akamon acquired Mundijuegos.com which established the basis for its international expansion.
