Airtronic USA
Airtronic USA, Inc., an engineering design and manufacturing company, was founded in 1990 and incorporated in 1993. Its FIRST Initiative was an investigation of fully non-magnetic electronic headsets that could be used within Functional Echo-Planner Magnetic Resonnance systems (FMRI).
In the course of early initiatives Airtronic USA developed relationships with prestigious medical and educational institutions and was a design consultant and prototype manufacturing facility to several Fortune 1000 firms.
Later Airtronic USA formed a Consulting Engineering Group to design innovative manufacturing solutions for companies for whom consistent product quality and time-to-market are of paramount importance. CEG support extended to the export and installation of its new manufacturing solutions to offshore locations, such as China.
In the late 90's Airtronic USA undertook a number of R&D and manufacturing projects for the U.S. Army, and today IT Works exclusively for the Department Of Defense. It is a member of the National Small Arms Technology Consortium (NSATC) and the largest woman-owned small arms manufacturing company in the United States.
In June 2007, Airtronic USA (the current government manufacturer of the M203) approached Samuel "Dutch" Hillenburg, Brian Fauci and Capt. Monty Mendenhall who were engaged in an effort to reproduce the 1960s era China Lake NATIC pump-action grenade launcher that was developed by the Special Projects Division of the China Lake Naval Weapons Center, which provided equipment to Navy SEALs. An agreement was reached which allowed Airtronic USA to acquire a license for military production and sales.
