Air Ticket (band)

AirTicket, was a Canadian rock group that emerged from Weyburn,Saskatchewan, Canada. The band was originally known as FreeTown until the final lineup of musicians was in place. The group accomplished much in the short time they had been together and quickly became a household name in Saskatchewan. The band toured with their New album Nothing Left to Fear before disbanding.

History

Early days

The band started as FreeTown in 2007 with the original members; Adam Hoffart on guitar, Carson AaronSkjerdal on drums, and Shaun Guest on guitar. They began their careers with many hit cover songs (By arists like AC/DC and The Beatles) to develop there talents. At this time they had no idea how far there music was going to take them.

In December 2009 the band had picked up Kjel Sidloski as lead singer. From there they learned new songs and started playing small gigs at teen clubs and restaurants. A few months later the band recorded a CD of cover songs in a Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan recording studio. Their first cd sold very little and was a rough start but the end of 2009 FreeTown become the house band at "Tags Teen Club" leading to subsequent bookings.

Air Ticket's start

In February 2010 Kjel Sidloski quit the band due to lack of interest in the bands direction. At this point the band had shows lined up and was in need of a new musician in a hurry. After having much trouble finding a lead singer Adam Hoffart stepped into that role, Shaun Guest became bass guitarist and young gun Austin "Beans" Kot had been scouted as the new lead guitarist. A new band was together and they started rehearsals. With this group change they had also picked a much more rock sounding style.

By late February the band hit the studio again to record another CD composed of more cover songs. They were recording under "Mike Murry" in his studio that he privately owned. They spent three days in the studio recording the eleven song album. Air Ticket had a long way to go from getting anywhere. Sales were good which led them to performing at "Cancer Jam", opening for Philly 5, and "The Gateway Festival" where they showcased their cover songs, this was in the summer of 2010.

Nothing Left To Fear 2011

After that summer ended the band decided to focus on a career in music. They began a six month writing period where they worked on songs for a new all original album. After five months of performing the songs and writing the album they were led to a recording studio under the label Murky Water Records. After discussing with the owner Thor Kolbinson they began recording the album as of December 26. After 38 hours of recording the band had finished the album on 5th of January, 2011.
