Aigia Fuxia
Aigia Fuxia (Αίγια Fuxia) is a TV Comedy Series first airing on ANT1 Cyprus in 2008. Aigia Fuxia is renowned for its witty humour merging together current affairs with the 20th century lifestyle. The series also uses the Cypriot Greek dialect instead of the traditionally-spoken Modern Greek to illustrate its comic elements
The series has been a really successful one, especially after a series of failing story-based series on the Cypriot TV. Despite the fact that the majority of people in Cyprus enjoyed the series, there were some negative remarks due to the controversial nature of Aigia Fuxia as a Cypriot TV Series. Nonetheless, it has mainly enjoyed successes, such as the record-breaking 68% of the AGB Cyprus independent TV surveying.
Furthermore, one of the characteristics of the series is its unconsciousness on continuity. Deliberate "mistakes" are sometimes used to add to its comic character.
Storyboard
The story unfolds around a village called "Paliochori" in Cyprus (the actual shoots taking place in Fikardou) in the early 20th century.
10 years prior to the pilot episode the village was struck by a "curse" also called "To megalo Thanatiko" (Το μεγάλο Θανατικό - The big [...]) in which 15 people died.
