Ahmed Sheikh Ali

Ahmed Sheikh Ali Ahmed (, known by Burale, is a Somalian author and politician. He was born in 1937 in Luk, Upper Jubba, Somalia. He currently lives in Nairobi, Kenya.

Political career

Burale studied in Mogadishu from 1954 to 1966. He then worked in the Somali civil courts from 1967 to 1990. He became a member of Somali National Front in 1991, a member of its executive committee in 1997, and the chairman of one of the party's wings in 1999.

In 2000, he became the legal adviser to Abdiqasim Salad Hassan, the then-president of the Transitional National Government (TNG).

Writing career

Burale has written books concerning Somali traditional customs, although he has also written on other subjects. In addition to writing his own books, he translated the book of Abdalla Ibn Muqfa'a "Kalila Wa Dimna" from Arabic to Somali. He has also translated Somali customary laws in English.
