Agustín Fernández (director)
Agustin Fernández Santana III, known professionally simply as Agustin, (born in Havana, Cuba, March 10, 1976), is an American film and television writer, director and producer.
Agustin's is known for EL VACILON: the movie (2003), GABRIEL (2008) and Falling Awake (2009). Is also the founder of Duende Films and Duende Media, both located in Universal City, California.
Agustin has won 8 Emmy Awards, 2 of them for directing, 2 as a writer,
Biography
Agustin was born in Havana, Cuba, at the age of 8 his family emigrated to Spain. Agustin spent his formative years traveling between family in Madrid and New York, where he began his artistic career in the New York Theater. Early on he was cast in several small roles in film and television. The two most memorable roles were his work in "Eduardo Machado's: Once Removed" and the movie based on the novel of Elmore Leonard, Gold Coast, directed by Peter Weller, Starring David Caruso.
Agustin's work was heavily influenced by his close friendship with the Brilliant character actor Victor Argo, who Mentored him until his death in 2004.
Agustin created the Emmy Winning Sketch Comedy show. "Agustin's El Vacilón", which featured Latino comedians and Wilmer Valderrama, Luis Guzmán, Casper Martinez, Elvis Crespo, Osvaldo Ríos, Zion y Lennox among others.
in 2014 Agustin had the honor to Executive Produced the Academy Award winning Documentary The Lady in Number 6, which tells the amazing story of Alice Hertz, the world's oldest pianist and holocaust survivor.
Agustin's biggest success came with the miniserie "Gabriel: Amor Inmortal", which received 8 EMMY nominations and won 6, including for writing, directing.
Gabriel: Amor Immortal Starred the Musical superstar Chayanne, with whom Agustin maintains a close friendship, as well as the Latin Music Icon José Luis Rodríguez (singer) "EL PUMA" and Angélica Celaya.
In 2014 Agustin had the opportunity to direct one of his idols in the film world the great actor, Martin Sheen.
