Agility Healthcare Solutions
Agility Healthcare Solutions is a 2002 American company founded by Fran Dirksmeier, the former CEO of McKesson Medical Surgical, and Dan Neuwirth, the former COO of McKesson Medical Surgical.
The company offers Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS), and Infra-Red (IR) technology solutions that improve hospital patient care management and operational work flow. Agility's AgileTrac technology provides a comprehensive healthcare enterprise resource management and work flow solution.
Agility's suite of tools was designed to improve patient care and hospital efficiency. AgileTrac was designed to specifically address critical issues facing healthcare providers today:
- Reducing patient overcrowding
- Accelerating bed turnover
- Streamlining discharges
- Minimizing use of temporary overflow areas
- Reducing inpatient and ED/ER diversions
- Reducing the number of patients leaving without being seen
- Increasing staff productivity
- Enhancing patient and staff satisfaction
- Improved asset management
- Reducing operational expenses and capital requirements
Agility's ultimate focus is to decrease the cost of healthcare while increasing the efficiencies of hospitals by using RFID Equipment Tracking (medical equipment tracking or product tracking), Hospital Equipment Tracking, Hospital Asset Management, Patient Tracking, Real Time Location System, and RTLS Asset Management.
History suggests a successful track record. Agility Healthcare Solutions implemented a comprehensive solution at Bon Secours Hospital in Richmond, VA, and save the hospital $3 million in three years. Similar results were achieved at the Medical Center of Plano, Texas.
Turn-key solutions
Agility's comprehensive, turn-key solutions offer enterprise visibility and management including: patient flow, asset management, bed management, patient tracking. It also can improve the management of rooms, staff, emergency department activities, surgical services processes, and other hospital resources and workflow using an integrated, modular application called AgileTrac. The AgileTrac solution provides a simple, visible GUI so clinicians can track medical equipment (or locate hospital equipment) in real-time, while the AgileTrack backend provides detailed reporting that will help improve patient flow and care, and better manage hospital equipment flow.
Company Buy-Out
On September 30, 2008, one day after the single largest drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, it was announced that 100% of Agility Healthcare's STOCK was purchased by General Electric. Less than 24 hours later, Warren Buffett purchased $3 billion of preferred GE stock; however, there may not be a direct correlation.
