Adam Garner

Adam Garner (born December 7, 1984, England) is a semi-professional footballer. He currently plays for Bedford in the Nationwide Southern Conference League after leaving previous teams Chippenham Town, Nationwide Conference side Forest Green Rovers, and Oxford United. He plays in a defensive position at either left back, right back or centre back.

He was a trainee and professional with Oxford United and has had experience with Conference club Gravesend & Northfleet. He joined Chippenham Town in July 2006.

In February 2007 Adam Garner became famous for becoming the first ever British football player to be owned by a commercial brand. The non-league player joined famous internationals such as Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano in a list of players who are not directly owned by the club they play for.

Word reached the game developers, Championship Manager, that Bedford's manager, Nick Plautener, was using the game to scout players. Because the player was too expensive, the brand stepped in and held talks with the former Oxford United and Chippenham defender. The deal, which included an immediate loan to Bedford Town, was signed on 6 February 2007.
