Early life

He was born in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, where his love for music began at the age of 16 or 17, influenced by Bob Marley's philosophy. In the city, he met Jesse Jagz and M.I Abaga.

Career

Ugwu began his career in 2008 as A sound engineer and producer, working on several Chocolate City releases, including "Oleku," "Nobody Test Me," and "Africa Rapper Number One." In 2012, he ventured into artist management and later became the company's head of business development in 2015. In 2019, he was appointed vice president of Bean Creative, and in 2021, he became the chief executive officer of Chocolate City Music.

He is credited with helping lead the success of Nigerian afrobeat artists such as Ice Prince, Brymo. Blaqbonez, Young Jonn, and CKay, including CKay's album/EP "Ckay The First", which produced the global hit single "Love Nwantiti." In 2025, the Federal Government of Nigeria partnered with Chocolate City to expand job creation, while Ugwu believes the partnership can help create an ecosystem that nurtures talent.

Advocacy

He believes that African music can transform public health messaging, bridge gaps in youth engagement, and shape behavior while driving awareness, especially among young people aged 16–21. Ugwu does not believe that AI-generated songs should replace human creativity, and he is not a fan of them, as he feels they take away from what makes music meaningful.
