Abilene Library Consortium

The Abilene Library Consortium is a regional nonprofit 501(c)(3) library consortium serving libraries and other cultural heritage organizations across West Texas. The consortium was incorporated in 1991, formalizing years of unofficial collaboration among Abilene’s public and academic libraries.

The consortium’s primary mission is to deliver higher-quality library services to its communities through resource sharing and collaboration. Some of these services include library information systems, digitization of important historic content, and consulting.

The consortium also administers the West Texas Digital Archives, a free public online repository containing over 50,000 unique historical items such as photographs, correspondence, audio and visual content, maps, and newspapers, all from Abilene and West Texas.
