Abertay University Hockey Club
Abertay Hockey Club is a university hockey club in Dundee, within which a mens and ladies team operate and compete in the BUCS leagues. Both teams train and play home matches at DISC on Mondays and Wednesdays, respectively.
History
In 2011, Abertay Hockey Club lost both Tay Games Varsity Challenge matches to their University of Dundee counterparts - the men were defeated 8-2 and the women lost 4-0.
In 2011/12, the Mens 1st XI will continue to compete in PwC BUCS Hockey - Scottish Conference Men's 3A, having finished joint 4th in 2010/11. The Ladies 1st XI will compete in PwC BUCS Hockey - Scottish Conference Women's 4A, after being relegated from 3A. Next season (2011/2012) will also see the introduction of a Ladies 2nd XI.
International Players
A number of Abertay students/alumni have been capped or involved in National Squads at some level. Notable players include Gavin Byers, Holly Cram & Vikki Bunce. In 2011, Ross Glashan gained his first Scotland u21 caps, while current caps, Ollie James & Craig Falconer, are due to matriculate in September.
