Aaron Scott Brown

Aaron Scott Brown (born February 10, 2011) is an American actor. He is known for portraying Young Lonnie in Charles LaBorde's play One Year to Die and for playing Duffy in Children's Theatre of Charlotte's production of Annie, directed by Tony Award-winning Corey Mitchell. He received a BroadwayWorld nomination for his performance in One Year to Die.

Early life

Brown was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on February 10, 2011. He began performing at Matthews Playhouse at age five. He later appeared in regional productions in the Matthews, North Carolina, community, including Peter Pan and The Music Man, among others.

Career

Brown's career began in 2019, when he was offered representation by Evolution Talent Agency after an audition. Continuing his theatre work, he appeared in 101 Dalmatians and Hello, Dolly! at Matthews Playhouse. His first national commercial work, later that year, was for The Hoover Company and its product, the Hoover Smartwash Pet. He also contributed to early development work nationally with Atari before the COVID-19 pandemic. Later, in 2020, he appeared in a Groundhog Day-themed advertisement for Evolution Church.

In 2022, he portrayed a male version of Duffy in Children's Theatre of Charlotte's production of Annie, directed by Tony Award-winning Corey Mitchell. Taught and mentored for many years by Ben Kubie of the Joffrey Ballet School, Brown wrote in his biography for the show that he had "danced ballet in several other shows." In 2024, Brown played the Big Bad Wolf in Shrek the Musical at Northwest School of the Arts. His performance drew online attention after a commentor misspelled "Bad" as "Back," and the clip circulated widely on TikTok, receiving 43.1k likes with additional jokes and references from viewers.

Later that year, he played Young Lonnie in Charles LaBorde's new play One Year to Die. Brown's performance was covered by WFAE, BroadwayWorld, Queen City Nerve, Queen City News, and Art on My Sleeve, where reviewer Perry Tannenbaum highlighted his role. He was later nominated by BroadwayWorld for Best Supporting Actor in a Play.
