A Barca do Sol was a very successful and influential Brazilian progressive rock band from the 1970s.

History

A Barca do Sol was formed in 1973 as a support band for musician Peri Reis, but ended gaining a life of its own. It was one of the most important bands of its time. The band recorded 3 albums during their activities and a collection set released in 2000. The band broke up in 1981 but the members continued their own solo careers.

The band has folk rock influences, and because of the INSTRUMENTS used there sound has often been compared to Jethro Tull.
