The 3 Rivers Rats are an Eastern Indoor Football League team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They will begin play in the 2007 season, as a member of the EIFL, which is not affilitated with the Arena Football League or Af2.
The Rats played their first game on February 10, 2007 against the Mahoning Valley HitMen, and the team is found to be no more of a pick-up team, as a Moohead radio report found that players were from the Youngstown area and no Pittsburgh-area people were involved.
The name "3 Rivers" refers to the city of Pittsburgh's location at The Confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers that forms the Ohio River.
The team left because of lack of insurance, and will be seeking membership elsewhere for 2008.
