2026 Anaconda Shooting
On June 20th, 2026, a fatal shooting occurred in Anaconda, Montana. The shooting, started by Mark Lock killed one person, Shane Charles at the Carmel's Bar in
Anaconda.
Timeline of Events
Before the shooting, suspect Mark Lock was noted to have been sitting inside the bar on Saturday night. He then walked over to Charles sitting on the opposite end of the bar. The Two then had a brief conversation at around 6:50, then Lock shot Charles once. Afterwards, a patron was able to disarm Lock, who ran away once he was disarmed. Police captured Mark Lock later that evening. Shane Charles passed that evening at the Anaconda Community Hospital.
Victim
53-tear old Shane Charles was the only victim involved in 2026 Anaconda Shooting. He co-owned the Carmel's Bar with his wife, Tamara Charles before being fatally killed in the shooting.
Suspect
61-year Mark Lock killed Shane Charles in the shooting with a handgun in his possession.
Punishment
Mark Lock is charged of one count of deliberate homicide. His BOND is currently set at 1 million.
Reactions
Many residents in Anaconda were especially frightened after this shooting due to the fact it was the second one in Anaconda in less than a year. Many residents also have revealed their reactions to the shooting via either social media or InterViews. The reactions across all methods of exposure were mixed, with most expressing sorriness and thoughtfulness to Shane's family, and some being angered or scared with why this is continuing to happen in the city.
Funeral/Implementations
Shane's funeral will be held on June 28th in Anaconda. The city of Anaconda has not implemented any certain restrictions or security measures as a result of the shooting.
