2025 U.S. Open Pool Championship
The 2025 U.S. Open Pool Championship (officially the 2025 LiveSB.io U.S. Open Pool Championship) was the 48th edition of the U.S. Open Pool Championship. Organized by Matchroom Pool as part of the World Nineball Tour (WNT), the event took place from August 18 to 23, 2025, at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Singapore's Aloysius Yapp won his maiden U.S. Open title by defeating defending champion Fedor Gorst 13–11 in the final match. Yapp earned the $100,000 top prize out of the $500,000 total prize pool, having previously finished as runner-up in the 2021 event.
Format
The tournament featured a 256-player field comprising international professionals and open qualifiers. The event was played in two distinct phases:
- Opening Phase (18–20 August): A double-elimination tournament format was used to narrow the field from 256 to the final 64 players. Upper bracket matches were played as a race to 9, while lower bracket matches were a race to 8.
- Knockout Phase (21–23 August): The remaining 64 players transitioned into a single-elimination tournament format. Knockout matches were played as a race to 10 up through the quarter-finals, a race to 11 in the semi-finals, and a race to 13 in the championship final.
Tournament summary
Defending champion Fedor Gorst reached his second consecutive U.S. Open final by defeating Wiktor Zieliński (10–9), Michael Baoanan (10–9), and Johann Chua (11–7) in the knockout stages.
Aloysius Yapp reached the final after overcoming Jefrey Roda (10–2), 2019 champion Joshua Filler (10–8), and Ko Pin-yi (11–4). In the final, Yapp defeated Gorst 13–11 in a close match to secure his first U.S. Open championship.
