In 2015, the Irish association football team, [[Shelbourne F.C.]] are competing in the [[League of Ireland First Division]] for the second successive season following failed attempt at promotion having been knocked out in the promotion play-off's the previous season. This season is currently commencing. Philip Hughes returned to the club after a loan-spell at Drogheda United F.C. and the club saw new management under former football player Kevin Doherty after Johnny McDonnell left the side prior to the start of the season.
