2014–15 Tamworth F.C. season

The 2014–15 season will be Tamworth's first season back in the Conference North following their relegation from Conference Premier. Tamworth will be participating in the Conference North, FA Cup, FA Trophy and the Birmingham Senior Cup.

Review

Background

This season the club have three main sponsors, of which are all Tamworth based companies. In this unique sponsorship move, Bradley Scott Windows, J Clarke Transport and Solus Coaches have all agreed to become Home Kit Club Sponsors for the next three seasons. This will be Solus Coaches third season overall as a main sponsor. Manager Dale Belford remained in charge despite the club's relegation from the Conference Premier.

Pre-season

On 20 May 2014, Michael Townsend was the first player to commit to the club for the forthcoming season. Newly promoted Premier League side, Burnley offered Kaiyne Woolery a pre-season trial with the view to a move. West Bromwich Albion, Gillingham and Crewe Alexandra also showed an interest in Woolery. Midfielder Claudiu Hoban re-joined his former side Corby Town following a brief stint at the club. Nuneaton Town trio James Belshaw, Jon Adams and Connor Taylor were all linked with a move to the club. On 3 June 2014 all three of them signed for the club. Former Bedworth United manager Steve Farmer was confirmed as the clubs new assistant manager. Duane Courtney signed for Alfreton Town. Former Cambridge United youth team goalkeeper, Phil Smith joined from local rivals Atherstone Town. Jessy Reindorf joined Conference South side Sutton United. Stuart Hendrie signed for Midland Football League Premier Division side Basford United. Kevin Thornton joined the club on a permanent deal following a loan spell at the back end of last season from Wrexham. A.F.C. Telford United player Dan Preston joined the club. A further two players joined from Nuneaton Town, Danny Sleath and David Hibbert. Tamworth then completed a double swoop for Worksop Town's Leon Mettam and Shane Clarke. Former Watford defender, Tom James signed for the forthcoming season. Last seasons Supporter's Player of the Year, Lloyd Kerry left the club to join fellow Conference North side Harrogate Town on a two-year deal. Richard Peniket left the club for F.C. Halifax Town. Andy Todd returned to the Conference Premier with A.F.C. Telford United as a player-coach. Darren Byfield rejoined his former side and league rivals Solihull Moors. Former captain Paul Green rejoined the club following his release from Forest Green Rovers at the end of last season. Last seasons assistant manager, Scott Lindsey joined Swindon Town U18 as their new manager. Swindon Town striker, Kayden Jackson joined the club following a successful trial period. Utility player Rob Purdie joined the club from Hereford United. James Wren joined local rivals Nuneaton Town. Justin Richards joins 8th tier side Sutton Coldfield Town.

August

Raajan Gill joins the club, after leaving Walsall Wood the previous season. The club complete the signings of trialists George Grayson, Brendon Daniels and Donovan Simmonds, who join from Scunthorpe United, Chester and Tilbury respectively. Richie Baker joins Conference North rivals Stockport County following his release from the club. Goalkeeper Phil Smith is released by the club without playing a game, after a lack of commitment, and promptly returned to Atherstone Town. Kaiyne Woolery was set to make a move to Premier League new boys Burnley, but opted to join Lancashire rivals Bolton Wanderers. Less than 24 hours until the clubs first game of the season, Phil Trainer joined. Following a trial with Accrington Stanley, Cameron Belford signed for Mansfield Town. Togolese born former England U16 player, Elikem Amenku joined. Jack Evans joined Conference South side, Sutton United. Following a number of unsuccessful trials during the close season, Ben Richards-Everton finally left the club to join Scottish Premiership side Partick Thistle. Last seasons top scorer, Nick Chadwick joined the academy coaching staff at Blackburn Rovers, working with their under 15 squad. Following his release by Rochdale, the club sign former Manchester City youth player Javan Vidal.

September

Lee Hildreth left the club to join Northern Premier League Premier Division side Rushall Olympic. George Grayson left the club, after he was released. Following a very disappointing start to the season, Dale Belford agreed to leave the club by mutual consent. Rob Purdie was announced as caretaker manager with Paul Green as caretaker assistant. Tamworth appoint former Wrexham player-manager Andy Morrell as the clubs new player-manager. Morrell made Dominic Smith his first signing for the club. Smith joined 28 day loan deal from Shrewsbury Town.
