2010 Dutch Caribbean Age Group Championships

2010 Dutch Caribbean Age Group Championships is a championship for young Track & Field athletes of the islands of the Dutch Kingdom. In 2010 there were three island competing. Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Eustatius. They compete in different events and the athlete with the overall most points will be declared the winner. There are two age groups, they are 11–12 years (Pentathlon) and 13–14 years (Heptathlon).This year was the first year that hurdles and baseball throw was added to the event list for the heptathlon. Sint Eustatius did not have a complete team. They only competed with a full Heptathlon team. Like every year, the hosting island is allowed to have two teams (which was Aruba). There were 32 athletes competing in total and Aruba was declared the overall winner, Curaçao came in second and Sint Eustatius came in third. This would also mark the first Year Aruba defeats Curaçao in the overall points

Events

The Pentathlon consist of a total of 5 different events. These events are 60 metres, Long Jump, High Jump, Baseball throw and 800 metres (for the girls) and 1000 metres (for the boys).

The Heptathlon consist of a total of 7 different events. These events are 80 metres, Long Jump, High Jump, Baseball throw, shot put, 80 metres hurdles (for the girls), 80 metres hurdles and 1000 metres (for the girls) and 1200 metres (for the boys).

Fun Facts

- This is the first year that Baseball throwing and Hurdles have been included into the Heptathlon since they are also part of the CAC Age Group Championships

- Despite winning overall in points, team Curaçao won the most Gold Medals during this event.

- This being Sint Eustatius' first time, they did not manage to win any medals.

- In 2010 would be the first year Aruba would win overall points and the first time they won gold in the relays after always coming in second place.

- Jelissa Nedd, Xavier Boekhoudt and Jean-Andre Denisa are the only 3 athletes to win a medal in all the events this year.

- This is the first time Aruba managed to win Gold, Silver and Bronze in the female Pentathlon and Heptathlon.

- Aruba came in first in both the female Heptathlon and Pentathlon while Curaçao won Gold for both the male Heptathlon and Pentathlon

- Alec Lacle originally served as a reserve before being added into Aruba Team 2 after Rashid Dawsom withdrew from the Team.
