2009 FAI Underage League

The FAI Underage League 2009 began on 4 July 2009. UCD U20 were crowned 2009 champions following their 5-3 victory over Salthill Devon U20 in the final on 2 December 2009.

League

Procedure

There are twenty six participating clubs in the Underage League; they are divided into four groups - seven teams in Pool 1 and Pool 3 respectively and six teams in Pool 2 and Pool 4. All the teams will play each other home and away during the regular season. The top two teams in each group will then advance to the championship play-off quarter-finals.

Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. No points are awarded for a loss. Teams are ranked by total points, then goal difference and then goals scored.

Changes from last season

Cobh Ramblers U20 withdrew.
Castlebar Celtic U20 joined the Underage League.
Limerick 37 U20 renamed Limerick FC U20.

Changes during the season

Kilkenny City U20 withdrew from Pool 2 in August 2009 after playing 1 GAME.
Galway United U20 were expelled from Pool 3 in September 2009 after failing to fulfill several fixtures.
Kildare County U20 withdrew from Pool 1 in October 2009.
All these teams had their records expunged from their respective groups.

Championship Play-Offs

Quarter Finals

The matches were played between 31 October and 8 November 2009. |} Drogheda United U20 were handed a walkover against Derry City U20 after the latter got expelled from the League of Ireland.

Semi-Finals

The matches were be played between 15 and 17 November 2009. |}
