1st International Film Festival and Awards‧Macao (2016)
Jointly organised by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), and Macau Films & Television Productions and Culture Association (MFTPA), the 1st International Film Festival & Awards (Chinese: 澳門國際影展暨頒獎典禮) took place between 8–13 December 2016.

Programmes
- Best of Fest Panorama - A non-competitive selection of award-winning feature films from major international festivals.
- Competition - An international competition comprising 12 feature films, presented as premieres, will be judged by a jury of 5 film professionals
- Crossfire - A non-competitive selection of non-East Asian/non-US genre films, selected by major East Asian genre film directors.
- Gala - Some of the most important works of the year will be presented in Galas section
- Hidden Dragons - A non-competitive selection of films representing the latest trends and components of contemporary Asian genre cinema. Only feature films presented as world, international or Asian premieres at the IFFAM will be admitted

Industry hub
IFFAM Industry Hub is open to all film industry professionals. The Industry Hub will be offering services and infrastructure to support the industry platform of the festival. In addition, the Industry Hub strives to be a new center in the Asia Pacific region for film professionals to meet in a casual, efficient and dynamic environment for new businesses to happen and existing business ties to be enhanced.
Crouching Tiger Project Lab Over the course of 4 days, through one-on-one meeting sessions, consulting services, workshops and panels, Crouching Tigers aims at providing an ideal opportunity to establish significant connections between seasoned industry professionals from the East and the West, in a professional and relaxed atmosphere.
Events
- BFI International Film Academy, Macao - A partnership project between IFFAM and The British Film Institute (BFI). The programme is a 6-days film making experience in the run-up to the IFFAM. Twelve of the Macao’s most promising young filmmakers will participate in this one week course in which they will work as part of a film crew, led by industry professionals, to make a short film, which will premiere during IFFAM
- CINEFANTASY INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM SCREENWRITING COMPETITION - IFFAM and International Council for Film Television and Audiovisual Communication (ICFT) jointly organize the “CINEFANTASY INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM SCREENWRITING COMPETITION”, which focuses on encouraging young people to engage in screenwriting as a way to inspire their creativity.
- Masterclass – Director Choi Dong-hoon Masterclass; Director Johnnie To Masterclass; Director Ann Hui Masterclass; Gianni Nunnari Masterclass; Tom McCarthy Masterclass
- Macao short film competition - To encourage Macao residents to create their own films and offer an opportunity for the film enthusiasts from all over the world to see the films created by the local potential film crews.
