Mr. Nebula is a DC Comics supervillain. Created by Keith Giffen and J. M. DeMatteis during their comedy Justice League period, he first appeared in Justice League America #36 (1990), and was the star villain of Justice League Quarterly #2 (1991).
Publication history
Mr. Nebula was created as a parody of Marvel Comics' giant planet-destroying menace Galactus (right down to his herald, the Scarlet Skier, who parodies Galactus' herald, the Silver Surfer). With his Terrain Modifiers, which can alter the shape, color or texture of any object, Mr. Nebula travels the cosmos in his Nebulamobile, redesigning entire worlds at whim using his unique "artistic" sensibilities.
Fictional character biography
Mr. Nebula was once a common mortal, ages ago. He comes across two humanoids, who are secretly powerful deities (two Lords of Order) who have deigned to walk among the mortals for reasons of amusement. Mr. Nebula offends them by not allowing them to touch or even see a temple he was redesigning at the time and is transported to a realm of madness. There is no up and down. Colors of every shape and hue are seen. Shapes to bend the mind and the eye float by. Mr. Nebula falls in love.
In this realm, he spends uncounted years evolving. He eventually returns to normal space and time. He uses his now vast cosmic powers to make a garish ship with which to travel the cosmos. He is also now much larger than the average humanoid. The people of the planets he visits despair, for they find his designs unbearable, as they are horribly displeasing aesthetically.
Nebula crafts a herald, called the Scarlet Skier, whom he loses track of many times, much to the Skier's enjoyment. Unfortunately, the Skier is always drawn back into Nebula's employment, a terrible existence for him for he also hates Nebula's designs.
Earth
Mr. Nebula sets his sights on Earth. Warned by the Skier, only a small group of Justice League members are on hand to stop him. They include Martian Manhunter, Ice and Crimson Fox. Though backed up by the US military, Nebula seems unstoppable.
His great height would prove to be his literal downfall. Fox and Ice eventually enter his ear canal. Ice freezes everything she can, causing a disoriented Mr. Nebula to throw up and fall over.
While he is stunned, Martian Manhunter crafts a plan. He lies to Mr. Nebula, saying that the people of Earth are crafting their planet to honor him, bit by bit. To "prove" this, they travel to Las Vegas. Mr. Nebula is so entranced with the city, he leaves Earth to do the 'reformation' on their own.
Mister Nebula eventually returns in the Will Payton Starman #35, by Keith Giffen, Peter David, Jason Pearson and Bruce Patterson. The Skier ends up with an even more garish costume. Nebula has also recently been seen in the Ambush Bug: Year None miniseries.

JJJ Heathcote Limited are purveyors of meats, poultry, and dealers in game located in the County of Cheshire, England. The company began life under the founder Jonathan James Jackson Heathcote, in the small town of Bollington, near Macclesfield in a small retail shop. During the first world war Heathcote worked as a horse groom at the Hall in Eccleshall, in the neighbouring county of Staffordshire. He eventually married and had eight children, all of whom would work in the business with him over the years. After his death, his children took over the business until their retirement, passing ownership to Heathcote's four grandsons, Edward, Michael, Jeremy, and Christopher, who continue to run the business to this day. Jonathan's daughter Margaret, and son Edward, both now in their 80s, still work for the company as secretary and chairman.
Heathcote inherited 32 acres of land along with a small sized abattoir from relatives of his mother when the business was still very young. The abattoir still remains in the family's hands, although at present, the family use another small, family run abattoir, operated by friends in neighbouring Knutsford.
The company currently operates two retail shops in Bollington, and one in the village of Poynton.
The company sources all animals from their own, or other local farms, and mandates that distance to slaughter should be kept to a minimum. All animals are rested for at least two days before slaughter, to prevent unnecessary stress and discomfort. Likewise, all meat is prepared and cured traditionally, with beef being hung for at least 30 days before cutting.
The company has appeared in good food guides in The Guardian, and UKTV's Good Food Channel. Until the closure of the abattoir in 2004, the company provided slaughtering facilities for the farm shop at Chatsworth, in neighbouring Derbyshire.
The company are the purveyors of meat, poultry, and dealers of game to HM Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne MP, when at his constituency home.
