Simon Lancaster-Larocque is an American mechanical engineer, inventor, and venture capitalist. He is the co-founder of Omni Ventures, a California-based venture capital firm focused on early-stage manufacturing, industrial technology, and robotics companies. Lancaster previously worked at Apple Inc. as a research and development engineer and technology scout, and is a named inventor on more than fifty U.S. patents related to advanced manufacturing and hardware design.
Early Career
Lancaster studied mechanical engineering and began his career in product development roles at several technology companies, working on consumer hardware, materials engineering, and early-stage prototyping. Public profiles describe his early work as focused on mechanical systems, reliability engineering, and manufacturing process optimization.
Apple
Lancaster joined Apple Inc. in the late 2000s. At Apple, he worked in research and development, and technology-scouting roles focused on advanced manufacturing processes for consumer hardware. His work contributed to Mac and iPad product lines, including hinge assemblies, sensor integration, and enclosure manufacturing. He is listed as an inventor on more than fifty U.S. patents covering manufacturing methods, mechanical assemblies, and hardware design. Lancaster’s responsibilities included evaluating emerging manufacturing technologies, supporting early-stage prototyping, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams. His patents reflect work on mechanical reliability, water-ingress detection, and the integration of biometric sensors into compact consumer devices.
Trade-secret lawsuit
In 2021, Apple filed a civil lawsuit against Lancaster following his departure from the company, alleging improper retention of internal materials. Lancaster denied the allegations. In 2022, the case was dismissed with prejudice pursuant to a court-approved settlement, permanently closing the matter without any findings of wrongdoing. Transition to venture capital After leaving Apple, Lancaster began advising early-stage hardware and industrial-technology startups. His work during this period focused on manufacturing innovation, robotics, and supply-chain modernization. Interviews describe his transition as driven by a desire to support founders building capital-intensive technologies that traditional software-focused venture firms often overlook.
Omni Ventures
Lancaster co-founded Omni Ventures with Sabrina Paseman in 2022. The firm invests in pre-seed companies developing manufacturing technologies, industrial software, robotics, and supply-chain systems. Public profiles describe Omni Ventures as a specialized “micro-VC” fund informed by the founders’ engineering backgrounds. Omni Ventures positions itself as a hands-on investor in industrial and manufacturing innovation, emphasizing technical diligence, founder support, and early-stage prototyping. Lancaster has appeared at international investment conferences, including SuperReturn Asia and SuperReturn Tokyo, where he has discussed niche venture capital strategies, industrial automation, and the role of specialized funds in global supply-chain transformation. Lancaster and Paseman also operate Omni Venture Labs, an initiative supporting early-stage hardware founders through prototyping resources, technical mentorship, and manufacturing guidance.

Psichologija (Psychology) is a semiannual double-blind, peer-reviewed psychology journal published by Vilnius University. It was established in 1962 as Pedagogika & Psichologija and was renamed Psichologija in 1980. The development of psychology in Lithuania during the Soviet Union annexation was a challenging task. Despite many issues, Editor-in-Chief Alfonsas Gučas managed to edit the journal in line with contemporary developments in international psychology . Psichologija publishes empirical research and theoretical articles in applied areas of psychology including clinical, social, measurement/assessment, educational, personality, and organizational psychology. In addition, the journal publishes interdisciplinary research that integrates psychology and other fields (e.g., psychology and law, psychology and consumer behavior, psychology and traffic). Psichologija is being published as open access, under the Diamond open access model.
