Born in 1980, she studied in Louisville, Kentucky. She appeared as a presenter on the PBS television show Reading Rainbow in 1987-1989. At the age of sixteen she moved abroad to continue her studies in Nagoya, Japan. After returning to the US, she completed her advanced high school studies ahead of schedule. She then spent a year studying psychology at Stanford University, where she was discovered by an agent from Look Management while out with friends in Palo Alto, CA. She then returned to work and finished her studies at Bellarmine University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.
In 2005 she moved to New York City, where she created the Seul Conte Tous project. The Canadian NINJAS are an all-female professional wrestling tag team that consists of Portia Perez and Nicole Matthews. They are best known for their work in Shimmer Women Athletes where they are the current Tag Team Champions.

Nicole Matthews and Portia Perez debuted as a tag team as part of Volume 15 where they were able to score a pinfall against the team of Lorelei Lee and Ashley Lane. Later in the night they lost to the team of Ariel and Josie.
After missing Volume 17 and 18 Portia Perez came back to SHIMMER as part of the Volume 19 where she defeated Shark Girl. Later in the night she teamed with Nicole Matthews to defeat Allison Danger and Jennifer Blake after Danger tapped out to Perez's Fujiwara armbar.
They took part in the SHIMMER Tag Team Championship Gauntlet Match on Volume 21 where they entered as the first team. They defeated the Pink Ladies but were eliminated by the Suicide Blondes of LuFisto and Jennifer Blake. On Volume 22 they received a title shot, but were unable to dethrone the SHIMMER Tag Team Champions Ashley Lane and Nevaeh.
They made her return as a tag team as part of Volume 25 where they lost to the team of Allison Danger and Daizee Haze. On Volume 26 Perez and Matthews received another shot at Lane and Nevaeh and this time were able to defeat them to win the SHIMMER Tag Team Championship.

Thus far, the Democracy 2.0 Grant Summits have convened Millennials from across the country to design and execute creative solutions in Constitutional Revision and Money in Politics.
80 Million Strong for Our Economic Future, the next grant summit, in partnership with the Peterson Foundation, wil be held in Chicago October 8-10, 2009.

The “Democracy 2.0 Declaration” is a visionary document, designed to call attention to the ways that our democratic process and institutions are properly serving - and failing to serve - the interests of young Americans. The Declaration was written by youth leaders with the belief that America’s youth are a major source of untapped political power, energy, and innovative ideas. Democracy 2.0 is designed to address the civic participation needs and interests of the Millennial Generation (targeting the 16-30 age group).
This declaration serves as a guide to the work that must be done, and annual surveys are conducted to ensure that the declaration and Mobilize.org’s work remains aligned with the needs and interests of Millenials.
