George Shenker was a polyglot, fluent in English, Russian, Polish, German and Italian, who worked as an interpreter for the Allied Forces during World War II.
After the war, Shenker invented a method for learning foreign languages, with the purpose of satisfying the Italian Navy and Air Force’s demands for training personnel who would be working with NATO.
In Shenker’s mind, the method had to be accessible to people who were forced to study at night due to work or time constraints. The method was therefore based largely on guided self-learning, and class time with teachers was viewed as an opportunity for verification and perfection.
Shenker utilized the most advanced technologies of his day, including tape recordings, 45 rpm records, and cassettes.

Icons of American culture encompass many kinds of cultural expression. Iconic status is hard to define but readily recognized as symbolizing the culture, history and heritage of the United States. Images, music, historic events and legends, vehicles, places and ideas may all be symbolic of the American way of life, its roots and the contemporary national identity. Icons deal not just with nostalgia, although that is an important component. The United States developed as a melting-pot of different cultures, and symbols of the new nation played a vital part in developing a sense of unity as a nation. In the twentieth century, regardless of political reality, American culture influenced every country in the world by exporting powerful symbols of unity and gratification: a comfortable life with many desirable possessions. A more cynical modern world sees through some of this, but with the reach of the internet and published media, iconic images remain hugely important.

Stones of the Lost Tomb is a series of comics being created by SLT productions. The series, evidently, is named after their company. The story, originally, was named Tombstone Jewels, and was under development by Zaurask Productions.
Story
The story takes place in Tokyo, Japan, in the year 2003. Scientists have found something strange within a Lost Tomb in Europe. They were stones attached to strings, and they had a strange aura. So they began studying what they might be in a laboratory in Tokyo.
After two months of study, the stones were stolen by an unknown person. This person was caught, and was revealed as a person named Dell. But before two days before he was caught, he'd given each of the twelve stones to a different person.
Now, the scientists had offered an award of $40,000,000 US dollars to whoever finds them and brings the stones to them.
However, the thirteenth stone was lost a while back. Nobody knows where it is.
Characters
Mikami Kai
Kai is one of the first characters introduced. He first appears as a completely serious character, but is later revealed to be a man who likes to joke around. His father, who was a thief, taught him thievery skills, and that is how he is so skilled at stealing the stones belonging to other people. He seems to have been a friend to Kazuki, but their past has not yet been revealed. In the original Zaurask version, his name was Yun Kai.
Sanada Teru
Teru is an incompetent stone searcher. He has no experience in fighting, and yet is the leader of a gang. He manages to keep his gang members with him by paying them enough money. He is very observant, as well. He notices not only the changes within the city, but also in the people who live in it. He used to be a good friend of Kai. In the original Zaurask version, his name was Liang Amon.
Koda Kazuki
Kazuki is the one who is suspected of holding the 13th stone. No one is sure, but they go after him anyway, hoping to obtain it from him. He met the girl who goes by Code Zero online, and became her boyfriend. It is later revealed that the headband he wears has the stone imbedded within it. After Kai had stolen his stone, Kazuki finally got involved with the stone search, and therefore began hunting the stones as well. In the original Zaurask version, he was named after the Japanese musical artist Kato Kazuki.
Sakurai Reita
Reita is aided by Kai in the stone search. He hates violence, and doesn't bother to get involved with things like that. He is only person next to Kazuki who ever befriended Kai, and will hurt anyone back if they hurt Kai. He is loyal to friends. He also wears a noseband due to his broken nose. In the original Zaurask version, his name was Zhang Reita.
Hikaru Ruki
Mysterious by everyone, Ruki used to be a good example of how a student in high school should be. But after he graduated, he'd committed several crimes, and managed to buy his way out of them. Ruki is smart, and does a lot to get what he wants. He looks for openings not only in fights, but in enemy plans, that way he can get what he wants. In the original Zaurask version, his name was Ning Ruki.
Other Information
After two weeks of working on the series, Zaurask En. handed it to SLT Productions. Zaurask claimed that they were taking the series in the wrong direction, and that STLs ideas for the series were much better. Zaurask's version of the series included vampires, giant plant monsters, and other things that didn't belong in the setting. Once SLT took over, they scrapped the idea of vampires and monsters, and instead changed it to something more normal, but what they changed it to has not yet been revealed. The story's original name was Tombstone Jewels, but SLT decided to use Stones of the Lost Tomb so that the story would be abbreviated SLT.
