Demodoxalogy (demopeople, doxaopinion, logos=discourse) is the study of public opinion: «discipline that aims to deepen the social and psychological assumptions that inform and shape the public opinion and tend to get a better combination between the news, the public and the media used» ('Demodossalogia', Salvatore Battaglia, Grande dizionario della lingua italiana, Torino, UTET).
The Società Italiana Di Demodoxalogia (Italian Society of Demodoxalogia, SIDD) has recently adopted the term 'demodoxalogia' (with x), with reference to international use ('demodoxalogy' in English, 'demodoxalogie' in French; as reported by F. A. Perini-Bembo in La demodossalogia nella classificazione della scienza: sua autonomia e ripartizione, Napoli, 1954), replacing the word 'demodossalogia' (inspired to reasons of linguistic purity now outdated) and antiquated variant 'demodossologia'. In the past, the discipline was also known as 'doxalogy' (not to be confused with 'doxology').
