The Frenchman Hills Winery is a winery located east of Royal City, Washington, United States. The winery produces full-bodied red wines from the Sentinel Gap Vineyards located on the high rocky bluffs near the Columbia River near Vantage on the west end of the Frenchman Hills in the Columbia Valley American Viticulture Area (AVA).
History and Heritage
The first commercial vintage of the Frenchman Hills Winery was the 2005 crop year with grapes from the Estate Owned Sentinel Gap Vineyards. Frenchman Hills Winery was licensed in January 2007.
Frenchman Hills Winery owner Norman Myrick and viticulturist/winemaker Larry Myrick produce 100% varietally correct production. Focusing on the Tier 1 and Tier 2 full bodied red wines, the wine making style is a handcrafted fruit forward expression of the vineyard. The best grapes are hand selected for the Tier 1 Program which includes Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. The Tier 2 Program includes Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Red Wine (a blend of 51% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15% Syrah).
The Winery is self distributed by agents to high end restaurants, wine shops, destinations resorts and direct shipping to retail customers and club members.

Cuba
In 1962 due to falling behind in the arms race, the premier of the Soviet Union, Nikita Khrushchev, through an agreement with the Castro led Cuban government began placing strategic nuclear missiles on the Caribbean island. Due to the proximity of these weapons to the Continental United States and the ongoing Cold War, President John Kennedy was forced to implement a naval blockade of Cuba to deter the shipments of missiles. The entire length of the Cuban Missile Crisis as it was known, is portrayed in the movie Thirteen Days.
Venezuela
In early 2008 Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez began to set up economic and military ties with Russia. In July 2008, Russian Naval ships visited Venezuela entering American waters for the first time since the Cuban Missile Crisis. The United States has become preoccupied with limiting the Russian influence due to Venezuela's vast amounts of natural resources. The strategic alliance between Chavez and Russia's president, Dmitry Medvedev has grown even stronger within the last year including an offer made by Chavez to allow Russian Strategic Bombers to be based in Venezuela. Earlier last year, on September 11, 2008, 2 Russian Tupolev TU-160 bombers briefly landed and carried out training missions in Venezuela.
Russia
Russian and Venezuelan ties can be seen as a legitimate threat to the security of the United States, just as Cuban relations with the Soviets were a threat in the 60's. During the Putin and Medvedev terms of power Venezuela has provided a safe haven and access point of operations in both North and South America. For example Russia’s covert foreign intelligence operations against America have reached cold war levels under Putin utilizing the SVR which is the former KGB. Russian aggression was also seen through reactionary tactics due to the United States stance on Russian operations in Georgia.

The Willamette Lurker is a humanoid cryptid alleged to live in the Willamette Valley in western Oregon. The Lurker is usually described as man sized, dark green, and covered in long shaggy fur. It also is supposed to smell strongly of river muck.
The Willamette Lurker is believed to be related to Bigfoot and the Yeti. However there is no physical evidence to support the presence of the Lurker.
There have been over one hundred claimed sightings of the Willamette Lurker, none of which have been confirmed. No one has ever captured a photograph of the Willamette Lurker, but its existence is well know among the inhabitants of the Willamette Valley.
